Meet your local hypnobirthing teacher & birth doula in Sidcup: Emma
I’ve been a doula for over 4 years, supporting families from pregnancy right through to the fourth trimester. Birth and babies have always been close to my heart, and becoming a doula truly felt like a calling.
After using hypnobirthing for my second and third births (both empowering VBACs) I experienced firsthand how powerful our bodies truly are. That journey sparked a deep passion to help others feel informed, confident, and empowered in their own births.

What happens on a Rise & Glow Hypnobirthing course?
Our courses are practical, relaxed and packed with tools you'll love using on the day you meet your baby. You’ll learn:
- how labour actually works, and what helps your body to birth more effectively
- practical breathing and relaxation techniques for pregnancy, labour and birth
- simple ways to make contractions feel more manageable
- massage, touch, acupressure and other physical comfort measures
- how to make confident, informed decisions and create a flexible birth plan
- how to navigate if induction, epidural or caesarean birth becomes part of your journey
- useful birth positions, movement and the benefits of water during labour
- exactly how your birth partner can support you, advocate for you and play an active role
Rise & Glow courses combine evidence-based antenatal education with practical hypnobirthing techniques, so you leave with much more than a set of relaxation scripts. We’ll help you understand your body, your options and the maternity system around you, while building a toolkit that can support you through any and all types of births.
The aim is simple: to help you feel calmer, more confident and fully prepared for the day you meet your baby.

Sidcup & Chislehurst Group Hypnobirthing Classes
We have two gorgeous venues for our Group Hypnobirthing Courses in Sidcup and Chislehurst, making our classes easy to reach from across the Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich areas:
- Crescent Road, Sidcup – a relaxed, home-based setting for small and friendly group courses
- The Crafty Den, Chislehurst – a beautiful, welcoming venue in the heart of Chislehurst
Our Sidcup and Chislehurst Hypnobirthing classes are particularly convenient for families travelling from Bexley, Welling, Blackfen, New Eltham, Eltham, Chislehurst, Petts Wood, Orpington and the surrounding areas.
Many of the parents joining our local courses are receiving their antenatal care through Darent Valley Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, or Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) in Orpington, including families hoping to give birth at the PRUH Oasis Birth Centre.
With Rise & Glow, your course isn't just about learning Hypnobirthing techniques in isolation. You'll be preparing for birth alongside other expectant parents from your area, with an experienced local teacher who understands the local maternity services and the choices available to you.
Which venue should I choose?
There’s no difference in the Rise & Glow course itself, so simply choose the venue and dates that work best for you. If you're based around Sidcup, Bexley, Welling or Blackfen, Crescent Road is likely to be particularly convenient. If you're coming from Chislehurst, Petts Wood, Orpington or Bromley, The Crafty Den may be closer.
Whichever you choose, you’ll get the same relaxed, evidence-based Rise & Glow Hypnobirthing course, with plenty of practical preparation for both you and your birth partner.
Giving birth at PRUH or another local hospital or birth centre?
Wherever you're planning to give birth, our hypnobirthing classes are designed to help you feel calm, informed and confident... whether you're planning a birth centre, hospital, homebirth or are simply keeping your options open.
We've put together some useful guides to the local maternity units our families commonly use:
Giving birth at Darent Valley Hospital
Giving birth at Lewisham Hospital
Giving birth at Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Giving birth at PRUH or Oasis Birth Centre
We also have plenty of families coming to us from further afield including St Thomas' in Cental London, The Portland, or Maidstone Hospital and Birth Centre.
How are we different to NCT classes in Sidcup or Orpington?
You can absolutely choose to do both NCT and Hypnobirthing.
NCT courses offer broader antenatal education, covering topics such as birth, feeding, newborn care and life with your baby. They can be a lovely way to prepare for parenthood and meet other local parents-to-be.
Hypnobirthing gives you more focused preparation for birth - helping you understand the physiology of labour, work with your body's natural processes, practise breathing and relaxation techniques, and prepare your birth partner to support you confidently.
At Rise & Glow Births, our Hypnobirthing classes are evidence-based and grounded in the latest research around birth, the mind-body connection and the physiology of labour. You'll have plenty of opportunity to practise the techniques together, so you're not simply learning about Hypnobirthing - you're building skills you can actually use during pregnancy, labour and birth.
Already considering NCT in Sidcup or Orpington?
You don't have to choose between the two.
Some parents choose Rise & Glow Hypnobirthing instead of an NCT course because they want their antenatal preparation to focus particularly on birth and Hypnobirthing. Others choose to do both, using NCT for broader antenatal and newborn education alongside dedicated Hypnobirthing preparation.
Both can also be a lovely way to meet other local parents-to-be and build a supportive community during pregnancy.
The right choice depends on what you want from your antenatal preparation - and if feeling calm, confident and prepared for birth is your priority, Hypnobirthing could be a wonderful addition.
